Couples
Therapy
Every relationship has its ups and downs. Whether you’re dating, engaged, or married, couples therapy can be a powerful tool to strengthen your bond and navigate challenges together. Relationships are complex, and even the strongest couples benefit from a safe space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface. That’s where we come in.
At Meaningful Emotion, our therapists are specially trained to work with the unique dynamics that exist between partners. We take a warm, compassionate approach, understanding that no two relationships are the same. Using evidence-based models such as Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we help you explore the foundation of your relationship, improve communication, and interrupt negative cycles that keep you stuck.
Who Can Benefit from Couples Therapy?
Couples therapy is for every stage of a relationship, including:
-
Premarital Counseling: Preparing for marriage by building a strong foundation for your future together.
-
Strengthening Communication: Learning to express needs clearly, listen actively, and understand your partner more deeply.
-
Relationship Contracting: Clarifying expectations and shared goals.
-
Rebuilding Trust after Infidelity: Navigating the difficult process of healing after betrayal.
-
Reviving Intimacy & Passion: Reconnecting emotionally and physically when the spark has faded.
-
Sex Therapy: Addressing challenges around sexual intimacy in a supportive space.
-
Healing Old Wounds: Working through unresolved conflicts that continue to impact your partnership.
-
Navigating Fertility Issues: Supporting each other through the emotional toll of fertility struggles.
-
Empty Nest Transitions: Rediscovering your connection as children leave home.
-
Navigating Uncertainty: Clarifying whether to rebuild or separate with compassion and care.
What We Don’t Address
Couples therapy is not recommended in cases of active domestic violence, as research shows it can increase risk. If domestic violence is present, we will connect you with appropriate individual therapy and resources to ensure your safety and well-being.
Our Approach
In couples therapy, the relationship is the client. At the same time, we recognize that personal growth is essential for a healthy partnership. If individual issues are significantly affecting the relationship, we may recommend individual therapy alongside couples therapy to provide more comprehensive support.
Investment in Your Relationship
Session rates vary depending on the therapist’s level of licensure:
-
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT): $200 per 50-minute session
-
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA): $150 per 50-minute session
-
Marriage & Family Therapy Intern: $75 per 50-minute session
Please note: Couples therapy is not always covered by insurance. In some cases, we can submit for coverage if one partner has a mental health diagnosis and therapy is deemed “medically necessary.” If not, clients are responsible for the session fee.
