Clinical
Supervision
At Meaningful Emotion, we believe great therapists are made through supportive, challenging, and culturally responsive supervision. Under the leadership of Dr. Lastenia Francis, PhD, LMFT — an AAMFT Approved Supervisor — we offer both individual and group supervision for clinicians at various stages of their professional journey.
Our Philosophy of Supervision
Supervision isn’t just about oversight—it’s a dynamic, reciprocal process. We view it as a space where growth happens through collaboration, honest reflection, and a willingness to both challenge and be challenged. We honor the Person of the Therapist (POTT) model, encouraging you to bring your whole self into the room—including culture, race, gender, and identity—as integral to your clinical voice and practice.
Our Approach
Our supervision process is systemic, relational, and responsive to the unique needs of each clinician. Together, we focus on:
-
Case consultation and clinical interventions
-
Exploration of POTT issues and self-of-the-therapist dynamics
-
Education on systemic models and theories
-
Private practice development and professional identity building
-
Preparation for the MFT licensing exam
-
Experiential learning, mindfulness, and reflection practices
We are especially dedicated to supporting clinicians from marginalized backgrounds in embracing identity as a strength rather than a barrier.
Supervision Options
Individual Supervision
-
$100 per clinical hour (scheduled in 1.5–2 hour blocks)
-
Typically meets twice per month or weekly depending on licensure requirements
-
This rate applies to clinicians seeking supervision only, outside of our practice.
Group Supervision
-
$75 per participant for a 2-hour group session
-
Groups are limited in size to ensure meaningful engagement
-
Collaborative space to learn from peers and gain diverse perspectives
-
This rate applies to clinicians seeking supervision only, outside of our practice.
Supervision Within the Practice
-
Therapists who join Meaningful Emotion as part of our clinical team do not pay for supervision.
-
Interns placed within the practice also receive free supervision as part of their training experience.
Getting Started
The supervision process begins with a 45-minute phone interview followed by a Zoom consultation session. This ensures both supervisor and supervisee feel the relationship is the right fit. We believe supervision is most effective when it is intentional, relational, and built on mutual respect.
If you’re ready to grow as a clinician, we’d love to support you on your professional journey.
